Greatest Hits è il ventiseiesimo album di Bruce Springsteen e la sua quinta raccolta ufficiale di successi. È stato pubblicato in edizione limitata negli Stati Uniti, in Canada e in Australia il 13 gennaio 2009. Il successivo 1º giugno, in concomitanza con il Working on a Dream Tour, è uscito anche in Europa con una diversa tracklist.
L’album “European Limited Tour Edition” raccoglie diciotto brani pubblicati tutti con la E Street Band da Greetings from Asbury Park a Magic più due brani in versione live
La compilation non contiene materiale di Springsteen registrato tra il 1984 e il 2002, periodo durante il quale non ha praticamente registrato in studio con la E Street Band.
